Travel Postponed

Dang, as if one back surgery last January wasn’t enough, I went for round two in August.

Let me backtrack.

Ten days after returning from our Azorean + NYC trip we spent the weekend in Morrison, Colorado.  It’s the closest town to the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater, where we had concert tickets to celebrate our 21st anniversary.

Infamous Hike

On the day of the concert, we went hiking.  I slipped and fell hard on my right buttock.  That was mile two.  Not one to give up, I walked another four miles.

We still traveled, Larry to San Francisco to visit his eldest son, then I went to Oregon to visit my eldest son.  The day before I left, I had my hip x-rayed.  That created flaming hot sciatica to course down my right leg.

At the airport!

Thank goodness my six month check-up (with reference to Januarys back surgery) was fast approaching.  The initial hardware was still intact, but I blew out the disc below.

Extending the rods and adding a new disc.

It’s been three weeks since surgery number two.  I cannot bend, twist, or lift anything over 5 pounds, yet I can walk.  And walk I do, 2-4 miles daily, supervised I might add.

In another few weeks I can take off my back brace, start physical therapy and get ready for the next grand adventure…

Supervised walk

…because Larry turns 70 next spring!  And he wants to travel to somewhere new.

At first he said, “It has to be warm, like Australia.”

This week he suggested “Scotland.”  Scotland?  Scotland is cold in March.

What will he say next week?

Larry with the fur babies.
