Winter Solstice
Winter Solstice is almost upon us.
It is the day when the earth’s axis tilt away from the sun, making it the day with the least sunlight and therefore, the longest night of the year for those living in the Northern Hemisphere, marking the end of fall and the beginning of winter.
Winter Solstice has been celebrated as diversely as there are peoples and different cultures. For those in my circle, we Reflect, Release, and set Intentions for the new season.
On Reflection, Larry intended to pedal across the United States. While he rode, my intention had been to find that cute little, all American town and relocate.

With Release, Larry had to stop his ride halfway, near Minneapolis due to a barrage of setbacks and finally the uncooperative weather. Before hanging up his bike, he rode through Fergus Falls and said it was absolutely adorable, maybe it was the ‘all American town?’
I Released the idea of joining him on the ride, driving the camper as support, because Larry liked going solo better. I also gave up the idea of moving, whether overseas or to an all American town, I’m good where I am, for now.

Larry’s Intention for the New Year are to finish his bike ride starting where he left off. It’s unclear whether I will drive him up and drop him off like I’ve done before or if he will rent a U-Haul and transport his-own-self to Minnesota. We will not make a decision until late spring.

And Fergus Falls, Minnesota? Daily, Larry announces their winter weather over morning coffee and compares it to our weather.
It’s mid-December and we’re still able to get out for an occasional bike ride. Fergus Falls, nah, I don’t think so.
