The Rainforest

Though New Zealand was labeled as my birthday extravaganza, I knew in the planning we’d need to include physical activities to keep Larry happy.  Cycling is easier on my knees than hiking, so that’s what I included.

And though Larry would never ride an electric bike, he suggested I rent one.  (Secretly, I think he wanted to make sure I kept up.) But I argued, “It’s cheating.”  To which he countered with, “it was not.”  He won the argument and we rented an electric assist bicycle…for me.

We’ve finished our first day cycling the West Coast Wilderness Trail (60 km/37 miles) with a stop to explore the Treetops Walkway.  Not my favorite thing to do, cuz I’m not keen on heights.

My tush is sore.  Very sore.  The seat wasn’t comfy, in addition to a bumpy, gravely path.

But the views!  Oh my gosh.  Just lovely. New Zealand west coast rainforest, wonderful.

And I could climb hills like I wasn’t even pedaling, which I wasn’t, haha.  Larry complained twice.  I told him, “don’t even.”

Beautiful scenery.  Sore tush.  And I’m beating Larry up hills for the first time in my life, Mwahahaha!
