The Bike Tour Finale
There’s a friendly competition between the West Coast Wilderness team located in Hokitika and the Great Taste team in Nelson, two divisions of Kiwi Journeys we worked closely with.
Though different, they are the same with excellent customer service, great gear, amazing accommodations, and top notch shuttles when needed. This is my second blog plug; they are a great company to do business with!
We finished our second bike ride (The Great Taste Trail) hours before the weather changed to wind and rain. That’s two rides with ideal New Zealand spring weather!
Spring. Larry said New Zealand observes daylight savings. But the clock on my bike was an hour behind. I couldn’t understand why it was not an hour ahead, since everyone knows it’s ’fall-back.’
Larry laughed, “it’s spring here.”
“Oh yeah.”
I never got used to cars, pedestrians and bikes on the opposite side of the road, pathways and sidewalks compared to home. I was constantly on guard, making mistakes more often than I care to admit, Larry too. But we kept each other safe, working as a team. Well, mostly…
I messed up during our hike the other day, we had to hustle so as to not miss our boat ride.
Larry took a few wrong turns today. It was no big deal, maybe added a few extra miles, but I got grouchy. How does he wakes up cheerful each morning, next to me, I wonder.
I used to tell Larry he was ‘stupid’ to love me. He said, ‘fearless.’
That has been our catch word this year, FEARLESS.
Today marks two weeks in New Zealand. The time is flying by.
I want to move to New Zealand, so does Larry. Are we fearless?
