During our last day on Pico island we ventured to the north side.

Destinations were the Museu da Industria Baleeira (Whaling Industry Museum), the Museu Maritimo (Maritime and ship building Museum), and the choice of two hikes (we chose Caminho das Voltas).

The Whaling museum was depressing.  Reminded me of Auschwitz photos.  Need I say more.

The Maritime museum was closed.  This has been a frequent happenstance, especially regarding food establishments.  We’re good at winging it, grabbing a loaf of bread and cheese from the market for a meal.

Larry adds, “Pretty sad that you can’t find fresh fish in the middle of the ocean.”

We ended the day with a nice hike where I worked up the courage to navigate a cliff passage.

Tomorrow is Sao Jorge island.
