In search of “Eh” and its true meaning.
2026, We’ve ventured to Cave Creek, AZ and travelled to Hawaii to celebrate Larry’s 70th. And I flew to NYC with son Andrew to see daughter Sarah graduation with her Masters. The takeaway from that adventure is when Andrew and I stayed in “pay-by-the- hour motel” after traveling for 24 hours.
Todays post: the original summer plan was drive north and then across Canada. But mapping this trip was discouraging.
Larry suggested reducing the plan to touring British Columbia and Danielle (our friend from Calgary) seconded the notion.
With retirement came the opportunity to control less. Eh. So, I did what I do best, I research options where to drive, what to see and where to stay, placing ‘ideas’ in a travel folder.
Larry, between finishing off the basement (from the cast iron pipe replacement in May) got the camper ready. One day he was laying tile in the basement bathroom and the next day he was repacked bearings of all four camper wheels.
Then there were the toilets. Toilets, as in plural. The basement toilet had been sitting in the garage and needed new gaskets. After installation, Larry help load the camper with food, clothing, and stuff.
Filling the water tank, he had to clean the water pump filter screen, and then noticed the toilet leaked. Actually let me correct that, it started straying water from the flush control module in back. WTF.
We had already pushed back our departure date, and it was just time to leave, toilet or no toilet. So, this morning we swung by Camper World leaving town. Larry crawled inside the camper, repaired and reset the toilet. Now we have a throne and are boondock ready!
