Furnas
The Azores are ramping up for the summer tourist season, and the town of Furnas has a jump on everywhere else. That’s where we spent a better part of today.
Most notable was the stroll through Parque Terra Nostra, a two hundred year old park, thermal pool and garden with plants from North America, Australia, New Zealand, China, and South Africa.
Second point of interest was the Furnas Environmental Interpretation Centre, where we received a private tour. The town offers 26 distinct, different healing waters. Twenty six, and that’s not counting waters on private lands.
Furnas was my favorite place thus far, I liked the energy of the area and the locals. (Who cares about living in an active caldera that could blow everyone to smithereens in the near future?)
