Cantaloupe

To view Legend Rock State Petroglyphs, rock art is one of my favorite pastimes, we skipped breakfast to avoid the crowds.  Just kidding, we left early to avoid the forecasted 101 temperatures.

On the drive we passed a share pasture, cows with wild antelope.

“Cantaloupe,” Larry exclaimed.

“Huh?”  I asked.

“What you get when you cross a cow with an antelope.”

His dad jokes usually solicit an eye roll, but this time I actually laughed.

My fav, a Phoenix bird with two phallic males.

My second favorite.

This particular petroglyph site was worth the detour.  And for those individuals that don’t spend a ton of time learned about rock art history, archaeologist or anthropologist theories, and the nuances of the depictions, there was a state provided pamphlet.

We finished our morning with a drive to Meeteetse Chocolatier.  He closed the shop at 11 am due to the forecasted...I walked in at 10:58!  Nice enough fella with a side of eccentricity, but I’m not sure his chocolate’s were worth a side trip.

The Hot Springs in Thermopiles are free for a 20 minute soak.  With the outside temperature of 107(per our truck), the hot springs at 104 were refreshing.  (The recorded temp was 102…a hundred and two, a hundred and seven, same difference.)
