Pancakes
The West Coast Wilderness Trail, cycling trip # 1, is over. We covered approximately 20 miles today, grand total in four days was about 95 miles.
The area is beautiful, the people more so. And I mean all the people, those in the tourist and service business, naturally, but random people too, that don’t benefit from tourists directly.
Daughter asked, “Is it someplace you could live?”
Without skipping a beat, Larry said, “Yes, it’s very comfortable and the people are very nice.”
After lunch we checked out Pounamu Pathway Māori Culture Center in Greymouth followed by a shuttle to Punakaiki. Pancake Rock was this afternoons destination. Pretty cool natural formation, with springtime white-fronted terns mating and nesting.
Tomorrow is the first forecast of rain and we’ll be hiking nearby on the Pororari River. Need to stretch our legs other than cycling…with that, cycling trip # 2 begins in three days.
