Thríhnúkagígur Volcano Tour

Yesterday Larry went to the Thríhnúkagígur Volcano Tour.

Per the website, it’s an “Extinct volcano reachable by a scenic hike followed by descent into the crater by open elevator.”

To reach the bottom, it’s one hundred and fifteen meters, or in US terms, a 377 foot descent.

I don’t do heights without a fuss, and avoid elevators.  For instance, the night we finished hiking the Camino, Larry got us an apartment on the eighth floor.  I climbed those stairs, over and over again, twice ‘racing’ Larry in the elevator.

Did I go to the volcano tour?  No way was I going to try and conquer two phobias at once.  I hung out in the hotel room for the day while Larry drove an hour+ to Thríhnúkagígur.

Here are his photos:

P.S. Larry really enjoyed his tour and learning about volcano things. For a (good) beer, he’ll be happy to share.
