Ants

I haven’t mention our shiny, black ants.  We have two sizes, small and medium(that have a tad of burgundy around the middle)…Not on the outside, but inside our camper, the S.S. Tunafish.

We’ve been fastidious with our food and garbage storage.  They walk around the ant traps we installed.  And we send about half dozen daily to ant heaven.

Some camping spots have electric hookups and some do not.  Though we require electricity to run the air conditioning (AC), we discovered early on that the AC was noisy as hell (the opposite of ant heaven) and not function quite right.  Think 100+ daily with no assist.

Yesterday Larry borrowed a ladder and crawled onto the camper.  Not the early morning, he chose high noon - the heat of the day.  There was a loose screw (I was corrected, loose bolt), much like Larry’s loose screw (bolt) with his timing.  But he did fixed the AC!  However, he didn’t locate the ant nest, only two abandoned wasp nests.

Speaking of wasps, Larry was swarmed and stung the other day by yellow jackets on his thumb knuckle.  The Bug Bite Thing, that Karen recommended, worked like a charm!  5 stars!

I’m whiny on this trip.  My physical abilities are on the decline as my body ever so slowly approaches life’s final destination. You’d think after my End of Life (Death Doula) course and the follow up MAiDs conference, I’d have more compassion for my aging self.  Nope.  Larry said, “There’s Go-Go, Slow-Go, and No-Go reference travel.”   He’s still Go-Go, while I’ve slipped into Slow-Go.

My phone.  My life-force, my blood, my connection with the outside world has been troublesome for a long time, and today’s trip into the freezer was the kiss of death.  So, I have a new phone, thanks to Abdul at Vernon’ Best Buy.  He was a fantastic person to work with, again 5 stars!

We finalized the remainder of our epic  travel plans last night with four more weeks on the road!   But today ‘things’ necessitated our return trip home - early; four weeks turned into four days.  Not to worry, it’ll still be epic, just epic crammed into a tighter time schedule.

Oh, there’s an ant!  Time to meet his maker.
